Special May Event: Music Day/La Fete de la Musique on Sunday 21st June.
25 acoustic acts on three stages, inside and out - www.musicday.org.uk for more info!
Batley’s finest real ale pub, rising from the ashes of the 200 year old Wilton Arms, and refurbished to return it to its former glory.
Opening hours are 4 pm ‘til 11 Monday to Thursday, 2 pm ‘til late on Friday, and midday to midnight Saturday and Sunday. We’re home to the very best real ales, featuring permanently Ossett Yorkshire Blonde, Theakston’s Old Peculier and four guest ales from the County.
We’re very proud to announce that we are in the CAMRA Best Beer Guide 2015 – the nation’s biggest pub guide, and we also have a very decent selection of lagers (including Birra Moretti, Staropramen, Heineken and Hoegaarden on draught) and ciders (Symonds Reserve on draught). We have the best special craft beers and wines list for miles, and there is always top quality live music on Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons.
We’re aiming to be the biggest little venue in Yorkshire, and part of our lounge bar is ‘Barstows’; a homage to all that is great about Batley, and perfect for business meetings, family functions or a small party.
You can’t fail with The Taproom – it’s got the lot!
We look forward to seeing you very soon.
The Taproom, Batley is small but perfectly formed for live music. We can get 70 or 80 in at a squeeze, and we are all about real music for real people, played on proper instruments with spirit and passion. We welcome all genres that don’t need several kilowatts of amplification; roots, blues, folk, jazz, alt everything, country, bluegrass, swing, doowop, rockabilly and all areas between the boundaries. We even rather like to idea of the occasional chamber quartet or madrigal singing, if you fancy giving it a go.
We have a small stage with a high quality vocal PA and a few lights. We appreciate proper music, do not charge on the door, and want to promote real talent, old and new. If you’re a performer, let us know, and we’ll give it a whirl. The room is intimate and intense, and sounds fantastic, come down and experience it yourself.
As a real ale pub we aim to bring you some of the finest local ales that we can personally recommend. Yorkshire has the finest selection of ales in the country and we don’t generally feel the need to extend beyond the county boundary. Our permanent draft ales are Ossett Yorkshire Blonde and Theakston’s Old Peculiar and we feature four seasonal and guest ales from our local brewers. The occasional foreigner may slip in but it has to be very good to beat off the local competition!
We offer a very decent list of wines from independent growers, by the glass or bottle, and in all the usual three colours! They range from a lovely full Minervois Carignan to a top of the range New Zealand red which you would swear came from St Emilion if you hadn’t been told. Whites, roses and bubblies to match and a great range of craft and special beers if you fancy something different.
It almost seems unnecessary to say that we are in the Good Beer Guide 2015, but we’re very pleased to be - and you should come and see why!
Do you need somewhere to celebrate that special event? Or have you a need for privacy and need somewhere to host that important meeting? Barstow's can be used as a private area for many uses.
